Young Women Have Higher Levels of Postsecondary Attainment Than Young Men

A key finding of this year’s report is that each generation of younger women in the levels of postsecondary attainment, while the attainment of younger men is falling. In 2008, 42 percent of young women (aged 25 to 34) had at least an associate degree, compared with 34 percent of women aged 55 to 64. In contrast, 33 percent of young men (aged 25 to 34)—compared with 40 percent of older men (aged 55 to 64)—had the equivalent level of attainment.
